Some properties are measured in acres. Others are measured in generations. Tucked into Montana's storied Nine Mile, this one-acre retreat is a small piece of a much larger history. Public records trace the land to an original federal homestead patented in the 1800s, and for generations it has remained a treasured place for family to escape to the woods, spend weekends together, and make the kind of memories that become part of a family's story. The original cabin, built in the early 1960s, is joined by a bunkhouse built in 1980, offering a wonderfully simple setting for family and friends to gather. Both are warmed by wood stoves, electricity runs to the property, and an outhouse completes the classic Montana cabin experience. This is a place designed for slowing down, enjoying the outdoors, and appreciating the beauty of a simpler way of life. Surrounded by Forest Service land on three sides, the setting feels far larger than its one-acre footprint. Water rights to Butler Creek and a water line running to the property add another remarkable piece to a property already distinguished by its history and setting. Places like this don't come along often. After generations in one family's care, this little piece of Nine Mile is ready for someone new to become its steward, to preserve what makes it special, add their own chapters, and perhaps keep it in the family for generations to come.
